Although our congregation is small in numbers, Wesley Grove UMC is big in heart. Through monetary
support on the national and international fronts via the United Methodist Committee on Relief
(UMCOR) and also through outreach within the local community, Wesley Grove UMC is dedicated to
service.
That dedication includes ongoing collections of non-perishable food items for the Damascus HELP food
pantry, with targeted collections around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays; school supply drives
and Christmas gifts for needy families in support of Faith Connections, the Damascus area ecumenical
association; and donating food, hand sanitizer, and warm socks to make “goodie bags” for the homeless.
Our service doesn’t end with donating money and goods; Wesley Grove’s members also donate that
most precious commodity, our time. You’ll find them marching in the Celebrate Damascus parade,
spreading Christ’s message (along with a little candy); serving at the Lord’s Table Soup Kitchen in
Gaithersburg; parading through the neighborhood surrounding our campus in our Christmas Caroling
Caravan; and spreading the Good News of Jesus’ birth through Scripture, carols – and cookies! – at our
annual Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. You might even see us at a stoplight or near a bus stop,
handing out one of those “goodie bags” to someone in need. As a living embodiment of God’s love,
we’re everywhere.
